The first “Digitale Woche Kiel” (Digital Week in Kiel) will be taking place in September this year. Kiel University will also be participating, with lectures, presentations and exhibitions offered from 19 to 21 September. You can learn more about digitalisation in science and teaching, and gain insight into the latest research topics, for example about the use of innovative materials, constitutional legal aspects and swarm dynamics. We look forward to your visit, and invite you to join us in tackling the question of what education in a digitalised world really means. The digital transformation is an open, non-linear process, and the impact it has on education and society is not predictable. Therefore, in addition to the development of new technologies, we also need more sociological, psychological and pedagogical research on this topic. As a state university, we are able to - and want to - make a contribution towards this. The Digital Week in Kiel is a great opportunity to focus public attention on the process of digitalisation, which is often difficult to grasp.
The infrastructural challenges of digitalisation will also be put in focus. You can experience what it’s like to work with research data, back it up and make it available any time, on guided tours through the CAU’s Computing Centre. On Thursday 21 September, there will be hourly tours from 2pm to 7pm, of the IT heart of the university. The tours are free of charge, but the number of places is limited. Please register here.
