The 9th Internal Meeting of the RTG 1743 in October took place at the Research Center Borstel, Leibniz-Center for Medicine and Biosciences. First, Prof. Stefan Ehlers, CEO of the Center, gave an impressive introduction to the history of the institution and its research in the field of inflammatory lung diseases.
And this fascination didn’t stop when Prof. Peter König, from the Institute of Anatomy,at the University of Lübeck, impressed not only the doctoral researchers but also the PIs with his talk on the current possibilities of visualizing inflammation.
And of course, some of our young scientists got the chance to present their work. Our medical research student, Alexandra Breuer, presented her project on “The role of Interleukin-6 classic and trans-signaling intestinal epithelial regeneration”. The associated doctoral researchers from the Max-Planck-Institute of Evolutionary Biology, Meriem Belheouane, spoke about “Fine scale QTL analysis of skin microbiota in house mice”.
Finally, the members of the RTG discussed the ”design” of the International Symposium of the RTG which will take place in June next year. The way back home was enhanced by a wonderful sunset.
