Why this profession?

During my studies, I took several courses in Immunology and straight away was excited about this interesting field. What fascinates me the most is the complexity of the immune system, how its different components interact with each other and the environment to protect us from pathogens and how a single defect can have crucial consequences for our health. Thus, I was delighted to be accepted for a PhD project on Inflammatory Bowel disease that integrates all of the above aspects.

Why RTG Genes, Environment and Inflammation?

It can be easy to lose sight of the bigger picture when working on an individual project. But being part of an interdisciplinary network such as the IRTG creates opportunities for discussion and collaboration with other young scientist, who are all working on similar topics from different angles. In addition, the IRTG supports continuous training by offering scientific as well as soft skill courses.
