Why this profession?

My interests have always been directed towards natural science and medicine, even during my school and university years. Through my studies of biochemistry, I have acquired the skills and understanding to be able to do research in this field and to understand connections. Here I also saw how fast large amounts of data could be generated, but there was a lack of solutions how to analyze this data in a relatively comfortable way. In addition, my interest in computer-related techniques for the analysis and classification of certain results and data grew. This justified my decision to do my master thesis in the field of bioinformatics instead of the laboratory. In this profession I can combine my strengths and interests.

Why RTG Genes, Environment and Inflammation?

Chronic inflammatory diseases exert a high level of suffering on those affected. These diseases are very complex and cannot be decoded by expertise in one field alone. As someone with an interdisciplinary background, I see the advantages in myself when knowledge from different areas comes together. The Research Training Group "Genes, Environment and Inflammation" facilitates the interdisciplinary exchange of expertise. I am pleased to be a part of this, in order to better understand the diseases and to help those affected.
