Why this profession?

…because I cannot think of a better one. As a medical student I enjoy getting to know the big range of science, research and patient care. When I started thinking about what I want to do after school, I was sure that I wanted to work with people as well as help them with my work. Moreover, I was extremely interested in sciences. Medicine combines these two interests perfectly. Although, I must admit that I sometimes work harder for my studies than I expected before, I am still fascinated by this subject and love to study it. Since research is a huge part of the medical field, I am excited to be able to take part of it with my thesis.

Why RTG Genes, Environment and Inflammation?

I chose the Research Training Group due to three major aspects. First of all, the RTG gives me the opportunity to have a great interdisciplinary exchange with researchers from various institutions. I am integrated in a team of researchers getting to know what other colleagues work on and gain many helpful and interesting experiences out of this. On top of that, I learn how to present my project and get new input from other researchers.  Furthermore, the RTG offers different soft skill meetings which are more than supporting for my work.  With this, I gain important knowledge of scientific work. Last but not least, I would like to work as a gynecologist later on and therefore appreciate to examine the basic principles of the most frequent bacterial infection of this profession.
