Why this profession?

As a physician I will have the possibilties to work as a researcher and/or clinical physician. And whatever profession or combination of professions I decide to choose, in the end I will help humans directly through for example prevention, treatment or aftercare of diseases or indirectly through in my research acquired knowledge. Additionally the always changing medicine offers me a broad field of science that is sure to satisfy my curiosity.

I am glad to work on a project that will be a tremendous benefit for me in either field I end up choosing to work in whilst contributing to the human knowledge and dealing with a topic that I am intrigued in.

Why RTG Genes, Environment and Inflammation?

The RTG 1743 focuses on the research of environmental influences and genetic predispositions associated with chronic inflammatory diseases, reasons for considerable numbers of mortality and morbidity around the world. It is also paving the road for doctoral researchers to work in science in the future. By receiving scholarships, participating in seminars and practical courses and attending conferences I will be prepared and trained for a future career in science. In addition to that the RTG 1743 provides the possibility to exchange informations above my own field of research and helps me to build a network amongst current and future scientists by interdisciplinary research and named meeting points. Because of all these aspects I feel very fortunate to be part of this program.
